Contest Voting 101: How to vote
1. How do I vote? Do I need a tumblr to vote?
You can vote by using the link provided in the particular month’s voting post.
Voting is done via Google Forms, so all you need is a google account
Sign in is required but we do not collect emails, all voting is anonymous, this is to prevent people from casting multiple votes.
2. Can I vote more than once?
As mentioned above, we try to prevent that. For maximum fairness, please only cast one vote.
3. What happens if I like more stories than I can vote for?
In this care, you will need to choose your top 3 and go with that. We apologize, but we cannot provide extra favourite or kudos votes.
4. Can I vote if I’ve read only one story?
You will need to read at least three stories in order to be able to pick your favourite and two kudos.
Ideally, you should read all the stories before voting with the exception of those you’d rather avoid due to themes, content warning, nsfw content etc.
Do not leave yourself some stories ‘for later’ thinking ‘well if anything happens, I can change my vote.' You might remember to change it too late!
5. Can I vote for my own story?
No
If you are an author taking part in the contest - do note vote on for your own story.
This is includes both favourites and kudos votes.
We have no way of checking this, so it is a honour system - since there is a winner, voting for yourself is an unfair advantage. Besides, it is simply a nice thing to not do!
6. What is the difference between favourite and kudos votes?
Favourite votes are the main votes determining the winner. Use them for your absolute favourite story.
Kudos are extra votes that you can give to other stories to show that you also enjoyed them greatly (think of them as your second and third favourite).
They are equal (there is no ‘better’ or ‘worse’ kudos)
They are used for breaking ties between stories that have the same amount of favourite votes.
7. What are the ‘reasons for voting’, and why are they there? Do I have to pick something?
‘Reasons for voting’ is there to tell the authors what made you vote for their story. It is a little feedback to give back to the authors for their hard work.
Do choose your reasons (it is required to pick at least one), and don’t just check things off at random!
8. Kudos feedback? High/lower on the list?
For kudos, their feedback forms are split.
The first feedback form you will get in the poll is for the kudos higher on the list (so lower submission order number, e.g 3)
The second is for the kudos lower on the list (so higher submission order number, e.g 9)
Remember that your kudos votes are equal, there is no better or worse story here!
